About Mark

As the father of four children, Mark Mansfield knows how tough family law can be on families, particularly children. A combination of professional knowledge, compassion, toughness, and common sense is why Mark is regularly cited by his colleagues as one of the top family law litigators in the State of Louisiana and the local region. Mark has been practicing family law for 24 years and has been a Board Certified Family Law Specialist since 2010. A sought-after speaker, Mark regularly lectures on specialized issues in the field of family law to attorneys and judges through Continuing Legal Education programs. Most recently, Mark co-authored Louisiana’s landmark child support law for pregnant women, which was passed by the Louisiana Legislature and signed into law by Governor John Bel Edwards in June 2023. Mark is proud that Louisiana was among the first states in the nation to ensure that pregnant women are eligible for child support payments.

Mark has been honored multiple times as one of the Top 50 Lawyers in Louisiana and the New Orleans region by Super Lawyers, has held an AV Preeminent® rating from Martindale-Hubbell since 2010, and was named “Lawyer of the Year” by the prestigious publication The Best Lawyers in America. Additionally, Mark received CityBusiness’ Leadership in Law Award in 2019. In 2026, Mark was appointed Magistrate for the City of Mandeville, where he serves the community through the city’s judicial system while continuing his private practice. He previously served as Chair of a Louisiana Attorney Disciplinary Board hearing committee, chaired the Louisiana Board Certification Committee for Family Law in 2023, served as President of the 22nd Judicial District Bar Association after successfully transitioning it from the Covington Bar Association in 2013, and held executive leadership positions within the association for many years. Mark also has extensive experience in personal injury and insurance coverage matters.

An avid classic rock and jam band enthusiast, Mark enjoys playing guitar in his spare time, collecting classic rock memorabilia—including autographed albums—and attending live concerts. He is also a lifelong Saints fan and enjoys collecting sports memorabilia. A native of Metairie, Louisiana, Mark has called the Northshore home for the past 19 years after relocating following Hurricane Katrina. The Mansfield family are parishioners at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Mandeville. Most recently, Mark has enjoyed coaching his son Will’s basketball team and his daughter Cecile’s soccer teams.

Mark is passionate about helping clients navigate the emotionally challenging world of family law through practical, cost-effective, and strategic representation. His long-time staff joined him at Mark J. Mansfield & Associates after working together for many years at a previous firm, and together they remain committed to providing exceptional service and advocacy for every client.
